Fragrances and tastes of Lošinj

Fragrances and tastes of Lošinj Following on last year's success which marked the event 'Fragrances and tastes of Lošinj', the Tourism Office in cooperation with the Fragrant Island Garden is continuing with development of this project. The event 'Fragrances and Tastes of Lošinj' has spread to the whole town, camps, hotels, tourist agencies, restaurants.....The fragrance network has expanded in all forms, from floral displays, potpourri, liqueurs, juices, cakes, fragrant decorations to gastro-menus where, in various ways, autochthonous island plants are used.

This year the whole month will be dedicated to the island's medicinal plants and pot herbs, so January and February will be characterised by lemons and oranges, March by rosemary, eucalyptus and laurel, April is reserved for asparagus and Lošinj onion, May will be characterised by sage, fennel and nettle, June by Spanish broom, lavender and immortelle, July bougainvillea and mint and August oleander and medlar. In September, the fragrance program continues with days of figs and jujube. October will be characterised by myrtle, strawberry-tree and rose-hip, November by olives and December by pine and agave.

250 km of Hiking and Walking Trails - walking tours

The island of Lošinj has more than 250 km of hiking and walking trails along the coast and in the interior, offering numerous opportunities for pleasant strolls by the sea or more demanding tours in the fragrant surroundings of the island's lush vegetation.

Easy walking trails run along the coast of the island past numerous coves and through an ancient pine forest. The paved trails in Mali Lošinj and around the hotels, as well as those in Čikat Forest Park, are connected to each other and lead to the Lungomare coastal promenade. The more demanding trails are ideal for experienced hikers and beginners looking for a true hiking experience. These paths are particularly attractive thanks to the island's unspoilt nature and numerous vantage points that offer stunning views of the archipelago.

Guided tours of Lošinj

Mali Lošinj - sightseeing

A half-day tour that will introduce you to the town of Mali Lošinj. In Ulica Sv. Marije street, which leads to the Parish Church of the Nativity of Mary and the 18th-century town square, you can admire the island's architecture and its gardens full of flowers and fragrant fruit. The view down the steps, in the area called Brdina, invites you to count them. The reward? At the end of the steps, this small town flooded with sunlight will give you a smile and bid you welcome! The tour continues in the centre of the town with a visit to numerous sites of interest, including the island's Garden of Fine Scents and the Fritzy Palace.

Veli Lošinj - sightseeing

The tour that will reveal to you the story of Lošinj's seafaring tradition starts in Rovenska Cove. The foundation stone for the large breakwater was laid in 1856 by the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian, the commander of the Austro-Hungarian navy at the time. Next to the harbour, there was a shipyard. We continue by walking along the coast to the Leva promontory, which was named after the famous Leva seafaring family from Veli Lošinj. The tour dedicated to the maritime history of the island of Lošinj continues in the Parish Church of St. Anton the Abbot and ends in the Kula gallery in Veli Lošinj, after which you will have some spare time to explore the town on your own.

Susak: Miraculous Sand Island - boat excursion

Lošinj together with its neighbouring islands is a part of the unique Adriatic archipelago. A pleasant boat tour will take you to explore a lively coast of the island’s cove, distant islets of the archipelago and visit the most miraculous island of all - island of Susak.

Susak is the island of sand, sandy beaches and of the unique tradition! Under a guided tour around the island you can discover more about this exceptional island and enjoy your day swimming on a sandy beach!

Meet the Doplhins - boat excursion

We set off from the hotel to Veli Lošinj, where we visit the Blue World Marine Education Centre. After that, we continue by boat through the Lošinj dolphin reserve, which is home to 120 bottlenose dolphins. With a bit of luck, we might even spot dolphins playing on the surface of the sea!

On the Trail of Lošinj's Captains - walking tour and sightseeing boat ride

If you want to know the secrets of Lošinj's captains, take a walk with a guide along the shore. The tour starts in Borik Cove and continues through Sunčana Cove to the small Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Annunziata) and Čikat Cove. During the pleasant sightseeing boat trip, you will learn more about the island of Lošinj and its hidden coves. Follow the steps of Lošinj's captains and enjoy the unique views of this archipelago.

Nautical Paradise Islands Ilovik and Silba - boat excursion

Discover Ilovik - the island of flowers, hidden in the small bay, protected from the winds, sailors’ favourite place. Visit the island under a guided tour and experience the magic of charmingly decorated flower gardens after which the island got its name. What follows is a sail to the island of Silba - island with magnificent beaches and the place having the same name as the island. The guided tour includes the unique view from the tower of love. Use your free time for a walk, optionally lunch, swimming and return to the island of Lošinj.

Magical Triptych of Cres: Osor, Lubenice, Valun - bus trip

The history of the islands of Cres and Lošinj is most impressively illustrated in the place connecting both of the islands with a bridge: in town of Osor - museum-town. For the last 4000 years the stones of the town have been telling stories about its history. It used to be the place where bishops and rulers kept their court and therefore Osor is with all reasons called the museum town.

A guided tour will take you for a walk down the town centre where you can explore its immensely rich historical heritage. We continue our journey towards Lubenice - a stunning place located on imposingly steep cliff with a breathtaking view overlooking the open sea. Despite being almost completely abandoned, town of Lubenice is famous for its impressive architecture as well as for cherishing the memory of life and history of the small places on the island.

After visiting Lubenice we are heading to the next interesting place on the island of Cres: picturesque fishermen village Valun, famous for its Glagolitic heritage: discovery of the one of the oldest Glagolitic monuments in Croatia, so called "Valunska ploča". We also recommend you delicacies of this very special place such as home-made prosciutto-ham, sheep-milk cheese, vine and dry figs.

In the relax zone, you can find peace in 3 differently designed relax rooms. The relaxing experience provided by the Finish and Bio saunas is completed with the pleasure of enjoying a Turkish sauna, aromatized showers with tropical effects, and a Laconium sauna with chromotherapy, unique in the Adriatic region and offering a view of the sea.

The spa center also includes 4 indoor pools with hydro-massage facilities and an outdoor pool, all with sea water.

Unique treatments with local products

Aurora Wellness Center is distinguished by its signature facial and body care preparations ensuring unique treatments, adjusted to each client individually, respecting his preferences, needs and level of stress.

The wellness treatments are performed using the healing herbs and herbal products supplied mainly from domestic island producers, including ecological essential oils and hydrolates; fine, cold-pressed unrefined herbal oils; herbal raw materials, such as ground apricot and olive pits; clay in various colors; algae; etc. Most of the treatments are designed exclusively for the Aurora Wellness Center and cannot be found anywhere else. The therapists make the preparations on the spot, just before the treatment. In such a way, the use of synthetic preservatives and other harmful additives that can be found in most of commercially sold cosmetic products is avoided. All treatments are administered manually.

SpaRitual

In addition to domestic products, certain treatments are performed using a special line of products called SpaRitual. SpaRitual is a luxury, vegan and environmentally friendly lifestyle brand encompassing multipurpose treatment products and ritual beauty hand, body, foot and nail care. All SpaRitual products are 100% vegan, which means that they are produced without animal testing or ingredients of animal origin. The plants are carefully grown in their natural surroundings, thus protecting their natural habitat and species, without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, and in line with the regulations for organically grown products. All the products are paraben, DBP, toluene, formaldehyde and formaldehyde base free.

All treatments are preceded by wellness rituals. A short interview with the client, a cup of homemade herbal tea, a short welcoming treatment and breathing exercises help the client deeply relax and make a good foundation for the treatment that follows

Outdoor Spa

The center is distinguished by its Outdoor Spa as well, i.e. massage treatments administered outdoors, under the pine trees, with a view of the sea. If the weather allows it, outdoor massage treatments can be administered at any time of the year, even during the winter months (in November, December and January).
