As part of the most anticipated annual award - The Reader's Choice Awards 2022 - readers from all over the world rated their favorite travel experiences
Zagreb’s Esplanade Hotel has been included in the prestigious Reader's Choice Awards 2022 list of the renowned magazine Condé Nast Traveler readers' votes placing it among the Top 20 Best Hotels in Central Europe, into a high eighth place as the only hotel from Croatia and the region, thus leaving behind the iconic Hotel Sacher from Vienna and thousands of other hotels, once again confirming its prestige and luxury at the global level.
Namely, the readers of Condé Nast Traveler, the most influential travel and lifestyle magazine in the world, annually rate destinations, islands, airlines, cruisers, resorts, spa destinations, and hotels that they have experienced as being the best in the world.
Since it’s the hotel's guests that did the overall rating, the entire Esplanade team is even more proud of this great recognition. It is proof that guests have recognized the high quality and first-class service, which is at the level of the world's luxury hotels. This is a great acknowledgment for this Zagreb beauty, which has been a symbol of the hotel industry for almost 100 years. The Esplanade Hotel has now, once again, proven that it is at the very top, just as countless other times throughout history.
Ivica Max Krizmanić, General Manager of the Esplanade Hotel did not hide his satisfaction: “The Reader's Choice Award is one more in the collection of numerous awards that the Esplanade Hotel has received for its work. It is primarily a great acknowledgment of our aspiration to provide top-notch service to our guests. We are all extremely proud that guests recognize the value, quality, and timeless charm which has attracted visitors to the Esplanade Hotel for generations. This award, as well as many previous ones, such as the World Luxury Hotel Awards, Condé Nast Traveler Gold List, Expedia Insiders Select, World Travel Awards, Luxury Travel Guide Award, Trip Advisor Hall of Fame, and many others, prove that the entire Esplanade team is woven into one whole that has been continuously following tradition, while introducing novelties and trends into business that wins over guests of all age groups.”

Reader's Choice Awards is a prestigious award under the auspices of Condé Nast Traveler, and this year marks its 35th anniversary. Throughout all these years, it has gained in significance, arousing and keeping the interest of professionals and guests alike. Namely, throughout that period, it has recorded the real experiences of readers who, through their travels, experienced true satisfaction with the quality and level of service and recognized top-notch hospitality through the efforts and commitment of the staff and the entire hotel team. In addition to the readers' experience with hotels, there are categories for evaluating airlines, cruises, islands, accommodation that guarantees a return, favorite cities, and much more. And this year, interest in travel has never been higher, as evidenced by almost 125,000 user applications rating their entire travel experience.
About the hotel
The Esplanade Hotel is the most renowned and most luxurious hotel in Zagreb and the region, and over the years its charm, elegance, and sophistication have only become greater. It was founded back in 1925 to attract passengers of the then-popular Orient Express on the Paris–Istanbul route. It nurtures its own quality, which it owes to its staff and entire team, to this day, even as an elite hotel and tourist destination of the city of Zagreb and the whole of Croatia. Always synonymous with opulence, it is the site of Zagreb's main gatherings frequented by famous guests like Josephine Baker, Leonid Brezhnev, Charles Lindbergh, and others. After a full refurbishment, which preserved its distinctive art deco charm, it reopened its doors as even more beautiful and attractive, evidenced by the fact that it is considered a star hotel in the entire region and beyond.
