FEAST FOR BODY AND SOUL

Hamam is a Turkish or oriental bath.

The Hamam is not only a purification of the body, but a true feast for both body and soul. The Hamam area consists of Turkish sauna, room with a large heated stone table, and resting room to relax after the ritual.

WHAT IS A HAMAM RITUAL?

Hamam ritual is a real pleasure and includes:

Use of steam saunas;
Different peelings and a peeling with a special glove;
Wraps; and
Plenty of foam and kneading of the body.

When entering you receive a PESTEMAL (scarf) for wrapping your body and the ritual begins in the steam sauna (temperature 45°C, 100% humidity). Steam sauna will open the pores of the skin on the entire body.

After you lay down on the GOEBBECK (heated stone table) you start with kneipping (alternate hot and cold showers on the body).

Every Hamam visit includes a body peeling with KESE (special glove). This removes the upper layer of dead skin cells and enhances circulation of the connective tissue.

The skin cleansing is followed by a massage or kneading of the body with soap foam. The massage’s effect is immediate: an amazingly clean and smooth skin and relaxed body...

And a glass of sparkling wine or tea and snacks make the relaxation complete.

WHY CHOOSE HAMAM?

A regular Hamam routine is not just about relaxation, but it improves your health and beauty.

DETOX
The heat in the sauna stimulates circulation, which activates the purification of the body. In addition, the steam opens the pores and accelerates sweating, whereby the body begins to release toxins. The rubbing of the skin acts as lymphatic drainage, which also helps to quickly and efficiently expel the toxins. All these processes are extremely important for healthy kidneys and liver.

STRENGTHENING THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
While suffering from a fever, our immune system becomes more efficient. The immune cells that are generated start to migrate into the bloodstream allowing our body to expel viruses and bacteria. A similar situation occurs when you visit a Hamam, where our body gets pleasantly overheated.

LOOK REFRESHMENT
Heat, steam, and sweating improve the blood circulation of the skin. Thus, the oxygen supply to the skin is more intensive and it gets all the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. Rubbing with a special glove has a soothing effect as well, as it removes dead skin cells, cleanses the skin, and removes blemishes and pimples. Thereby our skin becomes smooth and shiny.

THERMAL WATER

COMPOSITION OF THERMAL WATER

The Tuhelj thermal water is rich in peloid particles which gather in naturally produced substances through geological processes. The particles of mineral and vegetable origin are grinded and mixed with the water. The main component of the water is sulphur which further emphasises its healing characteristics.

In addition to sulphur, the thermal water contains sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, strontium, and many other elements.

THERMAL WATER AT ITS SPRING
A peculiarity of Terme Tuhelj is that its thermal water is situated in all outdoor and indoor pools. What is more, you can bathe at the spring of this healing mineral water. The spring pools are located near the charming baroque Mihanović Manor.

HEALING THERMAL MUD

The peloid of Tuhelj is one of the four best healing muds in Europe and is therefore used in many other spas. The mud, which is particularly beneficial for skin regeneration and anti-cellulite therapies, can be used within the SPAeVITA center, where we offer massages and fango wraps with thermal mud, and within Sauna World, where we provide you with mud steam saunas.

Healing thermal mud is formed in thermal springs at 33 °C. Peloid has a fine granular structure composed of silicon, magnesium, potassium, and sodium oxides and organic substances.

Along Sotla River

Near the lower part of the river Sotla, which forms a natural boundary line with Slovenia, lies Klanjec and a gallery of Antun Augustinčić, the famous sculptor whose statue stands in front of the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.

Antun Mihanović, author of the Croatian national anthem “Lijepa naša” (“Our Beautiful”), also used to live in the town. His statue was erected there in 1935, when the poem had not yet become the national anthem.

Kumrovec, a village alongside which the Sotla flows, hosts the Staro Selo Ethnological Open-Air Museum and the birth house of Josip Broz Tito.

Krapina Neanderthal

In the late 19th century, one of the most important European Neanderthal sites was discovered in Krapina, which is today home to the excellent Krapina Neanderthal Museum.

The new Krapina Neanderthal Museum is located near the world famous site of the Krapina Neanderthals „Hušnjakovo“, a fact which makes it a unique visiting complex. The Museum''s architecture evokes the habitat of the prehistoric man: the semi-cave, the volume, proportions and the front of which are a result of the analysis done on the appearance of the ancient Krapina semi-cave. This cave no longer exists as it collapsed.

Exhibition
Neanderthals represent a magical and mystical idea of the prehistoric people of Europe. They are one of the many secrets of the beginning of our species. Who were those people who lived between 30,000 and almost 300,000 years ago? How did 19th century science discover and interpret the finds and what do we know now, at the beginning of the third millennium, about these Stone Age people who used to hunt for rhinoceros in this area 125,000 years ago? Where does the Neanderthal belong on the Tree of Life? If you want to find out the answers to these questions, visit the new KRAPINA NEANDERTHAL MUSEUM, in Krapina, in Croatia!

Adventure park

ADRENALINE ENTERTAINMENT THAT GETS YOUR BLOOD PUMPING

The adventure park offers entertainment and a special challenge. Test the limits of your endurance on low and high elements using special equipment that will help you overcome the obstacles.

Active socialising in the fresh air is needed more and more in today’s lifestyle.

WHY THE ADVENTURE PARK?

The adventure park is a place where groups of 5–15 persons gather in nature and overcome different obstacles by means of mutual trust. Each individual assesses the difficulty of the task and often surpasses the limits of his or her own abilities with plenty of fun, laughter, and excitement.

Although the concept of the park is not competitive there is always enough competitive spirit, as each individual tries to overcome his or her fears. The prize comes in the form of satisfaction after completing the task.

SAFETY

The participants are equipped with climbing gear, which is put on under supervisor’s instructions. Instructors check the safety of the gear before performing specific tasks.

The park is designed for a variety of groups – families, schools, teambuilding groups, and all those who want to feel the adrenalin flow in a controlled and safe environment.

The only conditions are height (min. 140 cm) and sobriety (the use of breathalyser before taking part in the activities).

The tasks are performed on an 8-metre high trail – high and low elements – and are guided by a qualified instructor.

HIGH ELEMENTS

Bridges stretched between pillars are situated at a height of 8 metres. Cables above them protect the participants from falling. When passing from one task to another, the participants reconnect their safety equipment under the supervision of their task partner and qualified instructors.

The track includes different tasks: tightrope walking, crossing beams and narrow bridges, 1.5-metre jumps, passing from one pillar to another through a large net, passing from one swing to another, passing over hanging tires, etc.

The individual’s physical, technical, and psychological coordination is significant when performing the tasks – the participant coordinates his or her body movements and tries to find a way to cope with an obstacle and overcome fear.

LOW ELEMENTS

Composed of different tasks that are carried out in groups, participants have to cross over the elements by means of mutual assistance and produce the best possible results through team work.

The aim of the tasks is to overcome fear, practice individual balance, motor skills, and concentration, to boost his or her self-esteem, development, endurance, team spirit, and motivation, and to develop leadership skills and to allow children and adults alike to experience real adventure.

It is very entertaining, completely safe, and suitable for children aged 10 years and above, while the upper age limit depends on you.

Sports fields

The Terme Tuhelj sport facilities offer recreation for professional athletes and amateurs.

The highlights of our ample sport facilities offer are the indoor and outdoor sports court complexes, tailored for certain types of sports.

The outdoor sport courts contain: a football field, a futsal court, tennis courts, a grass volleyball court, mini golf, a bowls pitch, children's playground, an adrenaline park, a trim trail. The indoor sport courts contain: a multi-purpose sports hall with PVC flooring, a fitness centre, and a swimming pool.

Trim trail with 8 elements

The trim trail is one of the most popular sports facilities of Terme Tuhelj. It begins opposite the caravan park. The sports field environment is ideal for morning exercises, recreational and professional athletes.

The trim trail is composed of 8 elements suitable for all ages. Every element includes a photo and description of the exercise, helping the beginners to execute it properly.

ELEMENT: (location board) is situated at the beginning of the trim trail.
ELEMENT: (balance beam with springs) is situated next to the children’s swing. It is perfect for exercising on a balance beam with springs and practicing your balance skills.
ELEMENT: (jumping and running with no hurdles) is placed on the trail in the direction of the pools. You can jump over the elements with or without the use of hands, thus improving your jumping skills.
ELEMENT: (lifting your body) is ideal for sit-ups.
ELEMENT: (crossing on monkey bars) is used for strengthening your arms and torso.
ELEMENT: (push-ups, curls) is situated next to the turf football field. The element is suitable for push-ups with feet on the bar or for curls
ELEMENT: (push-ups – lifting on hands) is situated next to the volleyball court and is ideal for push-ups as well as for strengthening your triceps, abs, and back.
ELEMENT: (hanging on hands) is located next to the basketball court. It contains a 2-metre high horizontal ladder and is perfect for strengthening your arms and shoulder girdle as well as for coordinating your movement.

Hiking trails

The surroundings of Terme Tuhelj offer scenic walks. The local tourism association has prepared and marked four trails suitable for all hikers. You will get to know the pleasant surroundings of Croatian Zagorje and meet the locals who will surely be happy to tell you some interesting facts about the area.

DUBROVČAN – RAVNICE – VELIKA ERPENJA (CHURCH OF THE THREE WISE MEN) – TUHELJSKE TOPLICE

The starting point is the Zelengaj restaurant in Dubrovčan. The trail leads through Velika Erpenja and ascends to the Church of the Three Wise Men which boasts a lovely view of Tuheljske Toplice and the surrounding hills.

Following the same trail you return to Terme Tuhelj in two hours and a half.

AROUND TUHELJSKE TOPLICE

This is the most beautiful and very picturesque 3-hour circular trail. Starting in the parking area near the spring pools you pass the Mihanović Manor and continue to the settlement of Kuhari.

You return to the starting point along the route between Mala Erpenja and Kuharov Jarek.

MIHANOVIĆ MANOR – ČREŠNJEVEC – TERME TUHELJ

The trail begins in the parking area in front of Mihanović Manor. Then it ascends, offering you a splendid view of Terme Tuhelj. You continue towards Črešnjevac where you can enjoy numerous vineyards and wine cellars. We recommend that you stop in one of them.

From Črešnjevac you descend and continue back to Terme Tuhelj.

TERME TUHELJ – RAKOVEC – SVETI KRIŽ (CHAPEL OF THE HOLY CROSS) – ČREŠNJEVEC – TERME TUHELJ

You walk from Terme Tuhelj in the direction of Rakovec and start ascending. Rakovec lies at the top of a hill where you first turn right and then left, ascending towards Sveti Križ.

You continue to the chapel and go back to the Klanjec–Kumrovec road. At the crossroads in the settlement of Fekeže you walk towards the Monaco bar and through Črešnjevec back to the starting point.

Cycling trails

The picturesque and hilly Croatian Zagorje is ideal for cycling. As the terrain is dynamic, but not too demanding, you can enjoy this activity even if you are not in great shape. Several marked cycling trails suitable for road or mountain bikes lead to the surroundings of Terme Tuhelj. If you did not bring your own bike, you can rent one from us.

ALONG THE TRAILS OF THE TWO SPRINGS

A 30-kilometre circular trail connecting two villages with thermal springs (Krapinske Toplice and Tuheljske Toplice) is suitable for all cyclists.

When cycling “Along the Trails of the Two Springs”, you will enjoy the view of the wonderful hilly landscape and pass some beautiful buildings, such as the cultural monument of Mihanović manor and the Church of the Three Wise Men.

“CYCLING TRAIL OF THE TUHELJ TOURISM ASSOCIATION”

The local tourism association has prepared a 36-kilometre circular cycling trail. It runs through Tuhelj and smaller villages in the surrounds. It also contains some relatively steep sections.

If you want to refresh yourself, you can stop at the nearby restaurants or wineries. Back in Tuhelj we recommend you visit the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

TRAIL THROUGH DUGNJEVAC

From Terme Tuhelj you can also hit an 18-kilometre circular cycling trail.

It leads you through Črešnjevac and Tuhelj to Prosenik, where you begin to ascend to the highest point – Dugnjevac. Then you descend to Pristava, return to Tuhelj and go back to the starting point.

All the Hotel rooms are double, but for an additional charge guests have the opportunity to book them as single rooms.

The single room supplement amounts to 112.00 HRK per day in the renovated rooms and 185.00 HRK per day in the newly built part of the Hotel.

Subject to prior notice, families with small children may request a baby cot, diaper changing table, anatomic bathtub support for children, and other much-needed necessities.

The hotel features a modern multi-purpose Convention Centre for 500 persons divided into two halls - Invigo for 350 people and Vilina for 150 people. If needed, the halls can be divided into three smaller rooms to enable business guests to work in smaller sections. The Well Hotel has a modern multi-purpose conference centre with three halls for up to 500 people.

The Well Hotel**** has a modern conference centre with two polyvalent halls, Invigo and Vilina, that can accommodate up to 350 and 150 persons respectively. They are an ideal combination for all types of business meetings.

An attractive and modern conference centre with two polyvalent conference halls. Both halls are equipped with modern audio-visual equipment, two interpretation booths, daylight and the possibility of complete dimming. Each hall can be divided into three smaller soundproof parts.

The conference centre provides business events organisers with a rich offer, tailored to the needs of business guests and focused on an individual approach to each guest.

In order to enable successful work, the halls are equipped with LCD projectors, automatic projection screens, cameras, microphones, Wi-Fi and many other technical elements.

The winery is filled with the past and ideal for all types of seminars and business gatherings. The historical atmosphere is created by solid wooden tables, baroque chairs, and a direct exit to the Mihanović Manor park.

A special touch is added by fine local wines that can be tasted with our sommeliers. The hall is perfect for medieval dinners in the spirit of the past and entertainment from Antun Mihanović’s times.

The winery can also host meetings, seminars, and conferences for up to 50 (theatre style), 40 (classroom style) or 35 persons (banquet style).

The contemporarily equipped Hotel Well offers plenty of comfort and a wide range of wellness programmes as well as culinary delights that are a guarantee for your well-being. Due to its proximity to the Croatian capital – Zagreb, the modern convention centre at the Hotel is an excellent choice for various seminars and conferences. The Hotel Well has six buildings with a total of 264 double rooms. There are 126 hotel rooms available in newly constructed buildings, while all 138 rooms in the old part of the Hotel have been renovated.
